SFA's Giving Tree 2024: Giving the Gift of Kindness

The Shore Families Association Giving Tree project is a heartwarming example of the good a community can do when everyone pitches in. This holiday season, the Winslow Building Birdcage has been filled to the brim with gifts of all shapes and sizes to be donated to one of eight different local agencies, each playing their own unique role in helping those in the area in need. Michele Vaccaro P’27,’24 and the rest of the Giving Tree Committee have been working tirelessly to spread awareness and collect donations in order to fulfill the holiday wishes of as many local families in need as possible.

“We just filled out all of our remaining slots!” said Vaccaro, going on to speak triumphantly about the work the Shore community has done, the generosity of families, and the myriad of causes and local organizations to which the Giving Tree supports. She spoke about one family's kindness in going above and beyond to make sure a skateboard arrived on time, about the thoughtfulness of the Grade 8 Leadership Ambassadors in helping to write so many wonderful cards for local children in need, and finally, about the humbling experience of wrapping up common household items as gifts, such as acne cream, and knowing how much it will mean to the person receiving it.

From the skateboard, to a pair of Beats headphones, to a serpentine rug, to an army of toys, there was something for everyone under the Giving Tree. The Shore community should be proud of the consistent and positive impact it brings to our larger community, and those less fortunate throughout the holiday season.
