The Advancement Office works to establish and nurture connections throughout the entire Shore community while raising critical, mission-driven resources to support the school. Annual engagement and fundraising activities strengthen the community and help advance Shore’s mission by providing budget relief and supporting program enhancement.

When you think of Shore, what do you value most? Perhaps your child’s teacher helped spark a new passion or talent, or the Upper School Library’s remarkable resources opened new doors. Maybe you are among the Shore alumni who can still recall a certain transformative moment in math class, on stage, or with a team. Whatever the case, you can be sure that generous philanthropy from Shore community members helped provide those experiences and continues to do so every year.

Since our founding in 1936, Shore Country Day School students have benefitted from the loyalty and generosity of an extended community of supporters: trustees, families, grandparents, alumni, employees, and other friends. We are truly grateful for this support and engagement each year.

  • Why is philanthropy so important to Shore?

    While tuition supplies Shore's strong financial base, philanthropy enables a level of ambition and creativity that would not be possible through tuition alone. Shore Country Day School is a 501 (c)(3) organization that depends on charitable gifts. From the very beginning, Shore Country Day School has been shaped by a culture of generosity. Today your gifts to The Shore Fund or to any other area of the school make us stronger and propel us on our path forward. Financial gifts from our community—families, grandparents, alumni, and employees—allow our school to provide a truly exceptional education experience to each and every student, year in and year out. We are so grateful to our generous supporters who make this work possible.

  • How does my gift make a difference?

    Your gift supports the people and programs that make Shore so special. At Shore, tuition does not cover the full cost of educating a child. Tuition accounts for ninety percent of the cost for every student, leaving a ten percent gap. Each year, Shore relies on annual giving and a draw from the endowment to bridge this gap. The Administration and Board of Trustees target what The Shore Fund must generate to bridge this gap. In essence, every Shore student receives a form of financial aid from The Shore Fund every year.

  • Why is it so important to support Shore every year?

    Every gift truly counts in helping the school to bridge the gap between what tuition covers and the actual cost of educating each child. Our community’s collective generosity propels Shore’s mission forward and enables the school to address new and emerging needs. A high level of community participation reflects the strength of our community and a shared commitment to our students. We hope that every member of the Shore community will make a gift that is meaningful to them each year.

  • Are there other reasons to give?

    The tax advantages of giving to Shore benefit the many people who choose to support The Shore Fund. Our supporters take pride in both the recognition that comes with being listed with the school’s donors and being among the many community members who assist the school in delivering its mission each year.
