Tuition and Financial Assistance

Investing inYour Child’s Future

We believe the lifelong value of an independent school education should be accessible to everyone, regardless of financial resources. The Shore community is made stronger by the enrollment of families from a full spectrum of economic circumstances. We encourage you to consider Shore no matter how much tuition you can afford to pay.

Policies and Philosophy on Determining Financial Assistance:

  • All financial assistance is based on an individual family’s need. No award is made on the basis of a student’s academic, athletic, or other talents.
  • While family income is an important consideration in the size of the grant, factors such as assets, liabilities and the number of children in tuition-charging schools or colleges are also considered.
  • All parents of each financial assistance applicant are expected to complete forms and to support the applicant financially to the extent that they can.
  • Financial assistance application forms must be submitted each year. Families can expect the same level of support throughout each child’s years at Shore if demonstrated need remains the same. Conversely, financial assistance is likely to change if the family situation changes significantly.
  • While Shore strives to communicate both admissions and financial assistance decisions on the same timetable, applying for admissions and financial assistance are two separate processes. Applying for financial assistance has no bearing on the Admissions Committee’s decision regarding acceptance to the school.
  • All applications for financial assistance are held in strictest confidence. Only members of the Financial Assistance Committee have access to records.
