Shore Extends Reach with Bus Service for Gloucester, Nahant

For the 2016-17 school year, Shore will launch new bus service this fall to serve families in Gloucester, Rockport, Manchester, and Nahant.

According to Lee Carey, the school’s Co-Director of Admissions, “Thanks to Shore's proximity to Rte. 128, families from both the east and west of Beverly have great access to the school. But the growing demand from young families looking for independent school options in our region convinced us that we had to extend our busing options.”

An all-new route originating in Rockport/Gloucester will make stops in Magnolia, Manchester, Prides Crossing, and Beverly Farms; while the school’s existing Marblehead/Swampscott route will add a new stop in Nahant. The new choices add to Shore’s other existing routes from Lynnfield, Andover, and Newburyport.

Adds Bobbi Whiting, Shore’s Chief Financial Officer, “Like most schools, Shore initially accepts a short-term financial loss when adding new buses, with the expectation that ridership will gradually increase once the service is up and running. But given the growing number of families in the area who’ve asked us for this, we’re confident we’ll see these added services quickly attract new riders.”

Co-Director of Admissions Daphne Faldi confirms this. “I recently spent time with a Gloucester family considering Shore for their children, and they told me a big reason they were looking here this year was the new bus service they'd heard about from some of our advertising. I think this will catch on.”

Agrees Carey, “Shore's strong reputation for academics and the arts is reaching an increasing number of households north of Boston, and our current families are having outstanding experiences. For new families dealing with increasing commute times on the North Shore, the bus will open up the option of Shore's great Pre-K through 9 programs to many more students throughout the region.”
