  • Boom-bastic Send Off!

    Coach Lucey
What a way to end with a BOOM! Shore finished its season with style today, playing hard, passing well, and scoring much.  Everyone contributed to the win, and we achieved the three goals laid out at the start of the season: 1) tight defense, 2) wide distribution of the ball, and 3) surgical passes to the corners of the opponent’s territory.  This approach resulted in the impressive score today.  However, the win marks a capstone on a thoroughly successful season.  Coach Ahern and I celebrate your stellar performance, boys!
  • Day for Growth at Fay

    Coach Lucey
Our Shore team displayed grit and intensity against a bigger and more experienced team in Fay.  An initially tentative approach yielded to our innate toughness, proven by a first-half comeback: down 2-0, we notched two quick goals to answer before halftime!  The second half revealed a more titled outcome in Fay’s favor, but our boys played with spirit and tenacity.  Not having a full bench to substitute made us drained by the end, but we finished the match with pride.  It is in games like these that we learn to play at a higher level.

  • Shore Dominates in the Rain

    Coach Lucey
Despite having only one sub on the bench, Shore commanded the pace of play against Tower last Thursday.  Pairing aggressive defense with decisive passing, our team kept the opponent on its heels.  One ninth grader enjoed a banner day with no less than four goals, but the win of course goes to the stellar play by the team as a whole.  The rain couldn't keep us down!
  • Battle of Undefeated Teams

Varsity field hockey encountered its most challenging opponent of the season at Exeter.
  • Final Push Can't Tie Fessie

    Coach Lucey
Shore seemed affected by the cold today, falling behind early, having trouble finding its groove.  Our opponent asserted dominance at times, but Shore responded in the final minutes of the game.  A spirited push deliver one goal and another flurry of chances, including one teetering on the very goal line.  Alas, too little, too late, we fell to Fessie.  Better luck on Thursday.

  • Shore Draws vs Pike

    Coach Wright
The Blue-and-White fought hard to establish our game as Pike stacked their midfield and backline.  Down by one goal, Shore showed heart and willed our way downfield where Tessa S. slipped a nifty pass to tri-captain Kiara W. who rifled it to tha back of Pike's net.  But the name of this Shore game was defense.  Tri-captain and keeper Emma B. hauled in, deflected, and smothered shots while turning in a performance for the ages!  Whenever Pike attackers peppered shots and pressured us, our backs stiffened and came up big.  Backs Bianca P. tri-captain Abi B, Molly B, Phoebe G, Claudia P, and Katherine K. made numerous gutsy and brilliant tackles.
  • Valiant Loss to Fenn

    Coach Lucey
My delay in posting this should reflect no embarassment in the outcome of Friday's game.  Our Shore players competed valiantly, leaving the pitch exhausted and full of pride.  We possessed the ball well and even refined some of our through-passing.  However, the talent and speed of Fenn meted out punishment for our few mistakes, and our opponent displayed superior ball-handling skill in several corners of the field.  Regardless, our squad has channeled the fury felt after that loss, and we are eager to unleash it upon Fessenden today.

  • Shore Saves Best to Last vs Tower

    Coaches Wright and Sklarsky
The Blue-and-White played a valiant Tower team today.  The drama kept building as we played well, made smart decisions, and drove the ball downfield.  The drama kept building into the second half with each team holding the other scoreless.  Shore's midfield Tessa S, Bianca P, Paulina A, Giana H, and Hope N and strikers tri-captain Kiara W, Ryan W, Emily D, Kelly B, and Olivia T turned on the attacking jets in the second half.  Scores by Bianca, Kiara, Hope, and Giana put an exclamation mark on our dynamic play.  Tessa (2) and Emily S earned assists.  Keepers Bianca and Sophia C anchored a defensive unit that stifled every attack.  Our backs led by tri-captain Abi B, Bianca, Phoebe G, Molly B, Erynn B, Claudia P, and Katherine K once again built a strong barrier around Shore's goal; they've been doing this all season
  • Shore Pounces Early vs Meadowbrook

    Coaches Wright and Sklarsky
The Blue-and-White did not want a repeat of yesterday's sluggish first half, so we set our sights high from the opening whistle.  We looked to spring teammates; we looked to link passes with friends; and we looked to march downfield like a band of sisters.  We built strong attacking plays, launched thundering shots, and tickled the twine three times in the first half!  We kept the pressure on durign the second half and the quality of play remained high.  Backs Bianca P, tri-captain Abi B, Phoebe G, Molly B, Erynn B, Claudia P, and Katherine K bent but never gave the 'brookies many openings.  Our tackling skills and Akers moves were rockin'!  Our keepers tri-captain Kiara W, Emily D, and Abi were on fire as they clawed shot after shot out of the sky.  Strikers Kiara, Sophia C, Ryan W, Emily S, Kelly B, Olivia T combined beautifully with midfielders Tessa S, Paulina A, Hope N, and Giana H; they were seemingly everywhere all at once making plays and dishing out wondrous passes.  Kiara (2), Paulina, and Sophia scored several of our best goals of the season.  Bianca, Paulina, Kiara, Ryan, and Tessa earned assists.
  • Shore Clicks into Another Gear

    Coach Lucey
Shore displayed a more controlled style of play today in their win over Pike.  For one, the incisive through-balls sliced past the opponent's back line, keeping our foe forever on their heels.  In addition, players found ample space in the middle once the play found its way to the wings, and many players delivered accurate passes to teammates in possessing the ball.  As ever, our defense hung tough, this time in the face of a physical and talented striking force.  Regardless, Shore left the field victorious and proud.
  • Another Team Win!

    Coach Lucey
The Shore Junior Varsity Soccer Team controlled the pace against Glenn Urquhart today, linking short passes from player to player.  When necessary, our midfield and back line also delivered threatening through-passes to our competent strikers.  In all, Shore peppered their keeper, who had to stand tall against the onslaught.  GUS specialized in the counter-punch, however, so timing and hustle were required to squelch their attack, which became more fierce in the second half.  In the end, Shore came out on top with another team win.
  • Shore Bests Brookwood

    Coach Lucey

The score remained close, but Shore dominated possession time in defeating its Beverly rival today.  The decisive factors were aggressive play and finesse in the finishing.  Shore players pounced on every loose ball, and the goals scored came from some of the finest shots this coach has witnessed.  All three goals hit side netting!  Pinpoint accuracy, to be sure.  Of course, Brookwood mustered several threatening fast breaks, but our stout defense held as strong as ever.  Our team has developed the confidence to tackle the next series of foes. Bring ‘em on!

The Board of Trustees unanimously elected Clair Ward, the current Head of the Valley School of Ligonier, to be Shore's 7th Head of School.
  • Blue-and-Whites Thwart Pike

    Coaches Wright and Sklarsky
The Blue-and-White squad faced a stubborn and sharp-passing squad from Pike and delivered our finest defensive showing of the young season.  Backs Abi B., Bianca P., Phoebe G., Molly B., Erynn B., Emma B., and Katherine K. tackled effectively and disrupted Pike's play-making.  Keepers Emma B. and Phoebe G. stood tall when pressured, authoring our first shutout!  Midfielders had their feet full as Pike brought big-time pressure from all directions.  Yet our midfielders gained control, would not let go, and helped keep us rolling.  Midfielder Tessa S. blasted two long-range goals, one from each foot - quite an accomplishment.  Kiara W. and Hope N. set up the Shore goals with crisp, accurate passes.

  • Shore Turns Up Second Half Heat on Tower

    Coaches Wright and Sklarsky
The Blue-and-White squad hosted a scrappy Tower team, shook off our long weekend rust, and worked hard to gain the upper foot during a memorable second half.  Our wizards at midfield, tri-captain Emma B, Emily D, Tessa S, Bianca P,, Giana H, and Hope N, gave us a much needed kick and the rest of us followed. The ball rocketed from one player to the next and our soft-touching and grand vision paid off.  Two goals in the first half by tri-captain Kiara W and Paulina A were doubled in the second half.  Strikers Sophia C (2) and Olivia T scored as well as midfielder Bianca.  Ryan W and Kiara authored well-deserved assists. Keepers tri-captain Abi B, Kiara, and Tessa stood tall when needed and saved the day on numerous occasions.

    Shore Blazes vs Fay

    Coaches Wright and Sklarsky
The Blue-and-White squad stepped onto their home turf for the first time this season with butterflies about facing a mighty foe, Fay.  Yet, the soccer script today was written emphatically by Shore players.  From the opening whistle, Shore launched themselves downfield, spinning an intricate web of passes and generating such heat with their quick feet that most Fay opposition melted away - what a display!  As good as the first half was, the second half saw even better teamwork and classic changing of the points of attack. Defenders tricaptain Abi B., Bianca P., Molly B., and Phoebe G. stifled high-flying, skilled attackers and allowed only five shots on our net.  Keepers tricaptain Emma B., Emily D., and Phoebe deserve much praise for their grit and composure. Goals were scored by midfielder Tessa S (2), striker and tricaptain Kiara, and striker Paulina A. Kiara notched our lone assist.
