Shore's Librarian for the Day

It was a wonderful thing to see as Shore’s 2024-2025 Librarian for the Day, Grade 5 student Coco K., went above and beyond in her role and helped Librarian Em make great progress in a variety of areas around the library. Coco, who has always loved to read and through reading, has developed a special bond with Em, took her heightened responsibilities in stride, and, together with her stuffed bunny, not only made a great positive impact in Em’s work but also spread positivity around campus with her friendly demeanor and ever-present bright smile. She even used some of her own personal knowledge to go out of her way and return a missing item, a bracelet, to a very thankful fellow student. The bracelet, a treasured personal item, had been used as a bookmark in a returned book. Everything that goes on in the library on the day-to-day can be a lot for one person to manage on their own, so volunteers like Coco are always welcomed with open arms.

Em was thankful for the help and had some very kind things to say afterward. “As Librarian for the Day, Coco K. displayed her enthusiasm, creativity, and thoughtfulness in the care she took in working with me. She was up for any task, whether that was stamping new books, reshelving returns, checking books in and out, or returning missing items around campus – and always with a smile on her face. Any library would be lucky to have Coco!”

Librarian for the Day is an auction item that was featured during the Fall Flannel Festival as part of the Shore Families Association (SFA) fundraising efforts.

If you are interested in lending a helping hand in the library, please find the library volunteer sign-up sheet on the SFA Resource Board under Links. Any time you can give goes a long way!
