Rising Stars: The Spring Pop Rock Concert and Art Show

While musical performances at Shore are all unique and special in their own way, one concert this spring brought an elevated level of energy. The Spring Pop Rock Concert was a display of musical talent, hours of hard work, and impeccable rhythm from many different members of the Shore community. From our students rocking out on vocals, to elegant strings, to percussion instruments that were the heartbeat of the entire show, there were so many moving parts, and they all came together in beautiful fashion for a finished product that left onlookers feeling energized, enriched, and fulfilled. The countless hours of work that our community dedicated to putting this together were nothing short of a Herculean effort, with a specific shout-out to Upper School Music Teacher Jennifer Boyum for spearheading such a wholesome display of one of the world’s most popular genres of music.

The theme of the concert was ‘Road Trip 2025’, and the musical pieces performed captured the essence of that familiar feeling of driving down the highway with the windows down, listening to good music while surrounded by people you care about. The concert kicked off to a hot start with a rousing rendition of "Shipping up to Boston" performed by the talented and experienced Chamber Ensemble, a group including students, faculty musicians, and accompanists, and the energy remained high throughout the rest of the evening. The concert included a myriad of melodies, pulling music from the discography of a number of well-known composers as well as including pieces from household names such as Taylor Swift, One Direction, Miley Cyrus, and the classic "Don’t Stop Believin" by Journey. The performers leaned into the 2000s pop style, with each song more colorful and exciting than the next as the musicians on center stage took the audience on a road trip of their own, all without leaving their seats. It was a fantastic concert all around, showcasing the depth of talent our Shore community possesses.

The Art Show that followed the concert was a continuation of beautiful work on display, with a wide variety of techniques being used by Shore’s talented students. The hallways bustled with onlookers enjoying their students’ hard work, as beautiful abstract pieces focused on shadow, colorful drawings using three-dimensional techniques, and handcrafted wooden spoons caught many eyes. Taking center stage were the amazing stained glass sculptures crafted by our Upper School students in the ILab, incorporating colorful glass and metalwork into ornaments, lampshades, and other useful items.

Congratulations to Shore's music and art departments for knocking it out of the park with another fantastic concert and art show showcasing a breadth of talent in various mediums. Congratulations also to the graduating members of our A Cappella and Chamber Ensemble, as well as five students who were welcomed as part of the 2025 Northeastern Massachusetts District Treble Chorus, and finally to Lilith B., a consistent star performer on stage at the Trustey Family Theatre and beyond, for the honor of being invited to be a part of the 2025 Northeastern Massachusetts Junior Honor Choir. We recognize all of your effort and talent, and we are so fortunate and proud to have you as part of our community here at Shore!
